We win our first industry award. Highly commended for Emerging Agency of the Year.
10 months ago we “announced”. And last week “emerged”.
In a glittering room in Sydney in front of a 600 strong audience, CumminsRoss got its first recognition from its advertising peers. The B&T awards are prestigious and highly sought after. We were just happy to be named as finalist in 2 categories – Victorian Agency of the Year and Emerging Agency of the Year. To win a trophy was a bonus.
Advertising likes handing out awards. And there are a lot of them out there.
Our basic philosophy about awards is this: If the work works , we enter. If our ideas resonate, we enter. If our clients have success, we enter. And ONLY if the client has success. We are not into hollow victories. We believe in world class work. So we enter few local shows, and mostly international shows. And again, only if the client gives their blessing.
We are not motivated by awards. We don’t think of ideas to win awards but to solve client problems. If that happens, and is done so with flair, then why not be recognised for it? A lot of agencies are more highly decorated than South American Dictators. We are not after that sort of needy recognition.
Fewer. Better. And worthier.
We enjoyed the win and feel bolstered by this early praise. It makes us want to lift the bar even higher. And that is the greatest value of awards.
